Are you kidding me?

This terror-apologist asks in his despicable article what would happen "if Canada were in Israel's position."  It's curious that he isn't asking the more obvious question: what if Canada were in Iran's position?  What if someone car-bombed our civilians in the street and then called it justified?

People like him outrage me.  A peaceful person condemns terrorism everywhere, no matter who the victims are, no matter what holy cause the perpetrators claim to defend.  We certainly ask as much of peaceful Muslims.  How can we not expect it of oruselves?

Don't hate the war, hate the warrior

One reason why George Orwell is such a great writer is the timelessness of his works.  His essay on the Spanish Civil War is as clear and applicable now as it was then.  Two most interesting thoughts:

... also because official war-propaganda, with its disgusting hypocrisy and self-righteousness, always tends to make thinking people sympathize with the enemy.

In practice, however, one cannot be neutral, and there is hardly such a thing as a war in which it makes no difference who wins. Nearly always one side stands more or less for progress, the other side more or less for reaction.
